How to baby-proof your home mindfully

Baby-proofing your home is an important step in ensuring your baby's safety and well-being. Here are some mindful tips for baby-proofing your house:

  1. Start with a safety assessment: Walk around your house and identify potential hazards, such as sharp corners, loose cords, or items that could be pulled down from shelves. Consider getting down on your hands and knees to see things from your baby's perspective.

  2. Use non-toxic products: Many baby-proofing products contain harmful chemicals. Look for non-toxic, eco-friendly options whenever possible.

  3. Minimize clutter: Clutter can be a tripping hazard and can make it difficult to navigate around the house with a baby. Clear out unnecessary items and create a minimalist living space.

  4. Install safety gates: Install safety gates at the top and bottom of stairs, and in areas where you want to restrict your baby's access.

  5. Cover electrical outlets: Electrical outlets can be dangerous for babies. Use outlet covers to prevent your baby from putting their fingers or objects into the outlets.

  6. Secure furniture: Use furniture anchors to secure bookcases, dressers, and other furniture to the wall to prevent them from tipping over.

  7. Use door stoppers: Use door stoppers to prevent doors from slamming shut on fingers.

  8. Store hazardous materials out of reach: Store hazardous materials such as cleaning products, medications, and sharp objects out of reach of your baby.

  9. Test toys: Check your baby's toys for small parts that could be choking hazards, and ensure they meet safety standards.

Overall, baby-proofing your house mindfully means taking a comprehensive approach to creating a safe and healthy living environment for your baby. By starting with a safety assessment, using non-toxic products, minimizing clutter, installing safety gates, covering electrical outlets, securing furniture, using door stoppers, storing hazardous materials out of reach, and testing toys, you can create a safe and healthy living environment for your baby.

Talking about worry, I’m sure one thing that all parents (including myself) are worried the most is the safety of their child(ren) especially during the baby and toddler years when they learn about senses and ready to explore everything through seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and touching.

Of course we try to baby proof our houses as much as we can. But the things that a lot of parents may forget to pay attention is that when the USB charger is left plugged in to a power source, current continues to flow. The charger’s free metal tip can release this current to an unintended source – such as a child’s hand or mouth – and this can cause devastating injury.

Developed by doctors and engineers, Watch Your Mouth (WYM) is the first and only child-safe USB safety cover for the free end of your charger. *patent-pending*

Watch Your Mouth has won the coveted Good Housekeeping Parenting Award for safety, the prestigious Mom’s Choice Award, the Independent Innovations Award for Baby Proofing Product of the Year, and the Parent Tested Parent Approved Seal of Approval. Watch Your Mouth has also been featured in Parents and Good Housekeeping magazines.

Watch Your Mouth snaps onto and encapsulates the free metal end of any standard USB charger to dramatically reduce the risk of trauma posed by a plugged-in charger. The child-resistant closure allows you to keep your charger plugged-in and readily available for a charge while keeping its hazardous end out of reach from curious little hands and mouths.

Playing together is a great way to connect to your child(ren) and we’re grateful for Watch Your Mouth Child-Safe USB Safety Covers to help make our play area safer.
